It is important to educate employees at all levels of an organization. Please listen to my elevator pitch to learn more.
Take a moment
to picture your organization five to ten years ago. What training programs do you still utilize
today? What is the climate of your
organization? Would current employees
state that their knowledge and skills reflect the current expectations of their
job? The picture you are envisioning
might show little growth and a lack of employee engagement or
satisfaction. Is that what you want your
future to hold? Over time, this could
negatively impact your organization and its ability to maintain a competitive
workforce that attracts, and retains, skilled employees (Noe, 2013).
Budgets are
tight, but the implementation of effective training and development programs
that are linked to organization goals and strategies will help to maintain
success (Noe 2013). By providing
employees with effective training, organizations can meet specific needs and
challenges while also possibly improving employee performance, confidence, and commitment
to one’s job and company. Organizations
that provide training allow employees to advance their knowledge and skills
while also developing leadership skills, too.
This will help to strengthen employee engagement and increase their commitment
to productivity as well as the organization (Noe, 2013). Training benefits everyone, when it is done
effectively.

Jocelyn,
ReplyDeleteGreat summary and elevator pitch. You shared a great point when you stated that training "will help to strengthen employee engagement and increase their commitment to productivity as well as the organization (Noe, 2013). Training benefits everyone, when it is done effectively." I like how you linked individual training to benefiting the entire organization. Far too often managers are short sighted that they can't see how investing time and resources into their employees will benefit the entire organization. How do you think this trend can change?

Hi Jocelyn,
ReplyDeleteI like your summary. You stated: “Budgets are tight, but the implementation of effective training and development programs that are linked to organization goals and strategies will help to maintain success (Noe 2013)”. In spite of the advantage training brings, it is the first area that gets cut when austerity hits. How do we change that mindset and help executives to see the importance of strategy relevant training when times are hard?
